A Fond Farewell.

It's fair to say that over the past few months i have lost all motivation concerning my blog and as i don't have the time to commit to it in the next coming months i thought it best to shut it down. As the saying goes, all good things come to an end, and the end is nigh. It's been an interesting journey and i've got to meet and know some amazing individuals. I won't be disappearing from the ole interwebs forever so i'm sure our paths will cross again, but in the meantime keep doing the things you love and stay true to yourself.

Much love and goodbye,

Sarah x

Music i'm listening to...

I love music and listen to far too much of the stuff but i rarely share my loves, finds or even hates here on blogger, i usually just keep them all to myself. Well i will step out of the music closet just for this one post and share with you some of my recent finds. Some of them are well known others are lesser known. I hope you enjoy them!

Ps. For the source of the image click on the image itself, to listen to some fine tunes click on the artists name!

Winning is good!

I don't what it is but i rarely win things, but these past few weeks I have won not one thing but three! Crazy. The first was a lovely voucher from a fantastic online Fairtrade store called The Fair Trade Store with which i bought some lovely things but i forgot to take some photos, sorry guys!

The next was these two fabulous prints from the wonderfully talented photographer Suzy Wimbourne, a lady i recommend you check out!

And the third was this fantastic teatowel from HOWKAPOW, the online artsy shop i blogged about a couple of weeks ago! When i have a house of my own and a wall big enough i will hang it up somewhere!

Curio from a little place i call home!

I recently visited my parents and spent time enjoying good company, eating some wonderful homecooked food and making table cloths (don't ask). I am always amazed at the amount of random curio my parents have around their home, so i thought i'd share a couple of my favourite items with you.

A china nursery rhyme cup c. 1950's

The pretty much explains it all c. 1940s

A cute little box which once housed our original and much used mini food cutters c. 1950s

Jam and Chutney.

I have a couple of friends who have/are getting married this summer and thought rather than do the usual and knit something i would make jam and chutney. Whilst giving my bookshelf a little clear out i came across a cute little book which i believe came free with a craft type magazine i had once bought whilst on holiday in France some years ago but have never really thought of using it. So i thought i'd give a go. My french was a little on the rusty side but i managed to translate the recipe ok and oh my were the results good! I decided to make William Pear Jam, which was a little on the sweet side but yummy none the less and a gorgeous William Pear and Cooking Apple Chutney!

I put them in these cute Kilner type jars, so the happy couple could re-use them again once they had eaten their delicious contents! The label was made using baking parchment, a trusty black marker pen and then tied with a bit of blue wool. Lovely eh?!

Handmade by Emily.

I have the greatest pleasure introducing you all to the lovely designer and maker called Emily of Handmade by Emily. I first came across her on the good ole interwebs, i was not only struck by her cute little creations and sweet fabric buttons but also her honesty and openness as a blogger is something i also found really inspiring. So of course, i jumped at the chance to ask this lovely lady a few questions and share the answers here, on Raining Tea and Biscuits. Hope you enjoy and be sure to visit her blog and support this lovely lady by buying some of her buttons (something i hasten to add i still need to do!) or an owl or two!

Tell us a bit about yourself I'm Emily, a 23 year old London-based designer maker. I make homeware, haberdashery, accessories and stationery, and am always dreaming up new things to make. I've recently moved to London from Brighton, where I studied English Literature at the University of Sussex, and am enjoying city living, although I fear that might change once the temperature heats up and summer is in full swing.

Tell us a bit about your products All of my products are handmade by me in my small home studio in North West London. However, I am moving to a workshop and studio in two weeks to accommodate my growing business and hopefully hold craft events, which I am very excited about. Some of my products are based on initial life-like sketches from which I draw patterns and turn them in to fabric creations, but many of the things I make come from an initial idea hastily scribbled down in my sketchbook and experimented with in fabric until I am happy with the final result. I use a mixture of new, vintage and upcycled fabric in unusual prints and different colour combinations to create unique products that I would want in my own home!

Lastly, where can people buy your products? You can buy my products in the Handmade by Emily Shop. A range of my products is also stocked at Knit With Attitude in Stoke Newington, London. For updates, musings and special offers you can follow my blog or Facebook page.
